Jamie and Rebekah Vardy to be subject of ‘rare and revealing’ reality show
By Laura Harding, Press Association Entertainment Editor
Jamie and Rebekah Vardy will be the subjects of a new reality series for ITV.
It will follow the footballer and his family as he leaves Leicester City after 13 years for a new life abroad.
It will also show Rebekah as she attempts to put the Wagatha Christie libel battle behind her.
The series will kick off with Jamie’s final emotional match and 200th goal, as the drama unfolds off the pitch as Rebekah prepares to move with her husband and four children to Italy.
Rebekah will reflect on her “recent challenges in the UK” as she prepares for a new chapter.
Last year a judge ordered Rebekah to pay Coleen Rooney at least £1.4 million in legal costs following their high-profile court case.
The pair were in a dispute over costs since Vardy unsuccessfully sued Rooney at the High Court in 2022.
The new reality show promises “no-holds-barred, intimate access to the Vardys,” and will follow the drama and chaos of house-hunting and school searching, as well as Jamie’s bid to prove his doubters wrong on the pitch at the age of 38, with Italian Serie A underdogs US Cremonese.
The show will be “a rollercoaster journey of resilience, fierce family bonds, and the promise of a new life,” according to ITV.
Louise Major, commissioning editor for entertainment and reality, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Vardys on this series for ITV1 and ITVX.
“At a pivotal moment in their lives, this is a rare and revealing look behind the headlines – from the highs of Jamie’s football legacy to the realities of starting over as a family, with Rebekah sharing her reflections on one of the most talked-about stories of the last decade.”
Dan Grabiner and Nat Lippiett, executive producers for Orchard Studios, said: “The Vardys are an iconic and brilliantly entertaining family, and this behind-the-scenes insight into their big move shows them as you’ve never seen them before: candid, unfiltered and completely unpredictable.
“Welcome to the Vardy party.”
