Extra return train from Athlone added for Galway-Westmeath clash

Irish Rail has added an additional return train service between Athlone and Galway for Westmeath's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship clash with Galway this Sunday (June 14).

The game at Pearse Stadium in Salthill is getting underway at 2pm and, since last week, the 9.26am train service from Athlone to Galway, as well as the 6pm and 7.25pm services from Galway to Athlone, have been fully booked.

This morning Irish Rail confirmed details for an additional return service which has now been added.

This will leave Athlone at 10.59am on Sunday, and is due to arrive in Galway at 12.02pm.

The newly-added return leg will leave Galway at 7.05pm and is scheduled to be back in Athlone less than an hour later, at 7.57pm.

The additional services are now available for booking on irishrail.ie

The match itself is currently close to a sell-out.
