Household and beauty store Normal set to open in Athlone as recruitment gets underway

A new discount retailer looks set to join Athlone's shopping offering, with Danish chain Normal now advertising for staff in Athlone Towncentre.

The retailer, which sells a wide range of everyday essentials, beauty products, household items and snacks, has recently begun recruiting for positions in Athlone, indicating that preparations for a new store are progressing.

Normal are currently advertising the roles of Store Manager and Assistant Manager, with a proposed start date of July 2026.

Neither Normal or Athlone Towncentre has yet confirmed the specific location of the outlet, or the expected opening date.

The move would mark another milestone in the retailer's Irish expansion. Normal opened its first Irish store last November at the Ilac Shopping Centre on Henry Street in Dublin, introducing the brand to Irish shoppers for the first time.

Founded in Denmark, Normal has expanded rapidly across Europe in recent years.
