Temple Villa AFC youngster Aimee Greene will have the honour of representing her country this weekend following her selection as part of the SFAI Ireland U14 girls’ soccer squad for the 2026 Association Cup.

Aimee, 13, is among a group of 34 players (divided into two squads of 17) chosen to play against Northern Ireland and Isle of Man at the competition in Limerick.

Having progressed through a rigorous period of trials, Aimee – daughter of Denise and Michael Greene – will be looking forward to two matches on Friday and Sunday, firstly against Northern Ireland and then against Isle of Man.

Both Irish teams will then face each other before the tournament concludes with a final and third/fourth placed play-off on Sunday, June 21.

Aimee recently played for Ireland in a pre-tournament challenge match against Athlone Town, having also starred for Temple Villa in last season’s excellent SFAI Cup run, and at the Gaynor Cup tournament for the Midlands League representative side.

In a post on social media, Temple Villa AFC congratulated Aimee on the achievement and wished her the best of luck at this weekend’s international tournament.

“We are so proud of Aimee and this fantastic achievement. Aimee has enjoyed a fantastic season with both Temple Villa and the Midlands squad, and this selection is fitting reward for all her hard work, dedication, and commitment. As well as a fantastic achievement for Aimee, it is also a testament to all the work done at our club, by so many people, for the girls game. We wish Aimee and all her team-mates the very best of luck in the tournament,” the club said.
