Athlone-based Attitude Dance and Stage School has announced its closure after 20 years.
Run by Robyne and Aishling Withers, the well-established performing arts and dance school has focused on building confidence, stage presence, and performance skills for local students.
It offered comprehensive training in disciplines like drama, musical theater, and dance for children and teens.
In a farewell letter addressed to students, parents, past pupils, teachers, and friends, founders Aishling and Robyne confirmed the decision “with both heavy hearts and immense gratitude.”
Over the years, the school said it supported thousands of students, many of whom experienced performing on stage for the first time. The statement noted how early rehearsals often developed into confident performances, lasting friendships, and personal growth that extended beyond the stage.
Aishling and Robyne emphasised that the school was never solely about performance training, but about belonging, self-expression, and confidence-building.
"It has been about encouraging each child to believe in themselves, to find their voice, and to discover what they are capable of achieving. The courage, dedication, laughter, and passion shown by our students have been our greatest reward.
They thanked parents for their continued support across rehearsals, productions, and performances, and acknowledged students as “the heart of our story.”
While confirming the closure, the letter described the decision as the end of a significant chapter, but said the school’s legacy would live on through the experiences and memories of those who attended.
"As we close this final curtain, we do so with immense pride in everything we have achieved together. We celebrate 20 amazing years of creativity, growth, laughter, and unforgettable performances. Thank you for being part of our journey. Thank you for every rehearsal, every show, every smile, and every standing ovation.
"Attitude Stage School may be closing, but the spirit, passion, and memories we created together will never fade."
