Wholesale prices for All Energy Fuels rise by 37%, figures show
All Energy Fuel prices were down by 7.8% in May 2026, compared with April, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Although these new figures show a decrease form April to May, it was up 37% when compared with May last year.
Wholesale electricity prices rose by 10.1% in May and, when compared with May 2025, were 33.1% higher.
When it came to food products, these prices increased by 1.3% in the 12 months to May 2026. Food Products, Beverages and tobacco were up by 1.0%.
The most notable change in producer prices for food products since May 2025 was in Fish and Fish products, which rose by 8.9%.
For Construction Products, these rose by 1.2% from April 2026 and rose by 3.1% since May 2025.
Deidre Toher, Statistician in the Prices Division of the CSO, said: “Wholesale price inflation showed an increase in May 2026 with a 0.9% growth in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
“The price index for export sales was up by 0.9% since April 2026, while the index for home sales was up by 0.4% in the month.
“Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 3.7% higher in May 2026 compared with May 2025. In the 12 months to May 2026, export producer prices rose by 1.2%, while overall producer prices were up by 1.6%.
“Wholesale electricity prices rose by 10.1% in May 2026 when compared with April 2026 and were 33.1% higher than May 2025. They have fallen by 62.7% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
“All Energy Fuels were down by 7.8% in the month, largely driven by decreases in Fuel Oil (-9.7%) and Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) (-6.6%). However, All Energy Fuels were up 37.0% since May 2025.
“Producer prices for food products increased by 0.7% since April 2026 and rose by 1.3% in the year since May 2025. One of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to May 2026 was Fish & Fish Products.”
