Uisce Éireann says it is 'targeting network improvements' in Moate

Uisce Éireann said it is undertaking 'targeted network improvements' to strengthen the reliability of the water supply for customers in the Moate area.

It was commenting after yet another water outage hit the Moate area in recent days.

There has been growing frustration in the town over the persistent issues with the water supply over recent years.

Uisce Éireann said today it acknowledged the Moate area has recently experienced interruptions to water supply and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

In a statement, Uisce Éireann said its crews have carried out detailed surveys of the local network and have identified measures that will increase "operational efficiencies, build greater resilience into the network and support a more robust and reliable water supply for local homes and businesses".

It advised that as the works are being implemented, some people may experience temporary reductions in water pressure on Thursday from 9am to 5pm.

Uisce Éireann thanked the community for its patience while the upgrades are being carried out.

"Other network enhancements are planned for the coming weeks and in advance of this Uisce Éireann will communicate clear details to related stakeholders in the area," it said.

Vulnerable people who are registered with Uisce Éireann will continue to receive direct communications for outages lasting longer than four hours.
