Ferbane Festival Fayre to bring music, community and family fun this weekend
Ferbane is gearing up for one of its biggest community celebrations of the year as the Ferbane Festival Fayre returns from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday.
The festival is offering a packed programme of live music, family entertainment, cultural events, sports, heritage activities and community gatherings.
Organised by local volunteers and community groups, it showcases the very best of what Ferbane has to offer, with events taking place across the town throughout the weekend.
A major highlight of this year's festival is an outstanding line-up of live music in The Marquee at Gleeson's Bar.
On Saturday night, audiences can enjoy the energy and excitement of Pogueology, Ireland's premier tribute to The Pogues, supported by the ever-popular Briar Hotel Big Band.
The music continues on Sunday night with Morning Glory, widely regarded as one of Ireland's finest Oasis tribute bands, bringing all the classic hits and anthems of the Manchester legends to Ferbane. Support on the night comes from local favourites Top Heavy.
Festival organisers are encouraging music lovers to take advantage of the exceptional value weekend ticket, with admission to all headline music events available for just €20 for the entire weekend.
Beyond the music, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of attractions including family activities, sports events, heritage talks, community exhibitions, demonstrations and opportunities to experience the unique spirit and hospitality that Ferbane is known for.
Other highlights include a market in the marquee at Gleeson's, which is being hosted by the Ferbane Christmas Market Committee and is taking place on Sunday from 10am to 2pm. Breakfast is being served there also, provided by 'Killer Street Food'.
Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others is holding a tournament on Saturday with more than 100 players from five counties participating.
Also on Saturday the Athletic Club, in conjunction with Naomh Ciaran, will be hosting a novelty sports day for kids.
West Offaly Lions RFC will be running a rugby 7s tournament, with 10 teams from 5 clubs participating, on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chairperson of Ferbane Festival Fayre, Danny Gleeson said: "The Festival Fayre is all about bringing the community together while welcoming visitors to experience everything that's great about Ferbane.
"We have something for all ages and interests, and we're particularly excited about this year's live music programme. We would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic weekend."
