Westmeath name team for LGFA intermediate quarter-final

Westmeath LGFA manager Frank Browne has named his team for the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship quarter-final against Wexford, in TEG Cusack Park, Mullingar, on Sunday, at 2pm.

The knockout game is a repeat of last month's Leinster intermediate championship final, in which Westmeath defeated Wexford on a 2-20 to 4-8 scoreline.

Westmeath, beaten All-Ireland intermediate semi-finalists last year, come into the quarter-finals on the back of two good wins, having defeated Monaghan by 3-9 to 0-4 and then edged out Louth by 3-12 to 3-9.

Wexford lost their opening game to Clare by two goals, but secured their place in the knockout stages with a 5-12 to 2-14 win over last year’s finalists Laois.

Should Westmeath advance to the semi-final stage of the All-Ireland series, a potential local derby meeting with Roscommon awaits.

Roscommon face off against Leitrim in their LGFA intermediate championship quarter-final in Carrick On Shannon on Sunday.

The other quarter-finals are v Fermanagh and Down v Monaghan (first named team at home in all cases).
