'Pepi' in his step: Westmeath dog sniffs out place in Nose of Tralee final
A Westmeath pooch with a huge personality has been named among the final 32 contestants in the 2026 Nose of Tralee competition.
Pepi will represent Westmeath in the nationwide contest after earning a place in the final, where one pet from each county will compete for the coveted Nose of Tralee title.
Describing her beloved pet, Pepi's owner said: "Meet Pepi, a small dog with a huge personality, a charming scruffy smile, and ears that seem permanently tuned in to compliments.
"With a nose that never misses a biscuit, a muddy puddle, or the sound of a treat bag opening from three rooms away, Pepi is the perfect candidate for the Nose of Tralee."
The Nose of Tralee organisers recently announced the final 32, with one representative chosen from each county in Ireland to compete for the 2026 title.
Public voting opens on July 24, with the winner due to be announced on August 18.
Pepi will now be hoping to sniff out enough votes to bring the Nose of Tralee title to Westmeath.
