Moate GAA ladies to host sports nutrition event this weekend

A large crowd will be expected at the Grand Hotel, Moate this weekend as the town's GAA club welcomes a leading nutritionist for an eagerly awaited event.

Moate All-Whites Ladies has organised the event, which is suitable for female athletes aged 12 to 16, and will see sports nutrionist Ella Cooney deliver 'an informative evening for young sports stars'. The event is scheduled to take place at 7.30pm on Friday, July 10.

According to the club, Cooney is a sports nutritionist with a passion for helping athletes fuel their performance, recovery and overall well-being.

She has worked with inter-county GAA teams, including senior hurling squads and Westmeath Boys County Development Squads, bringing practical, evidence-based nutrition advice tailored to the demands of sport, the club said.

At the information session, Ella is expected to explore the nutritional needs of female athletes aged U12 to U16, covering topics such as energy requirements, hydration, recovery nutrition, match-day fueling and building healthy habits for long-term performance. Parents and adult players will also gain insights into supporting young athletes and making informed nutrition choices, the Moate club said.

The club further stated that the event is open to players, parents, coaches and sports enthusiasts.
