DPD provides bench at Athlone Castle in partnership with mental health charity
DPD Ireland has become the first Irish corporate organisation to partner with Legend on the Bench, installing two dedicated mental health benches in Athlone to encourage conversation, connection and hope.
One bench has been installed at DPD Ireland's Head Office in Athlone for employees, reinforcing the company's ongoing commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of its team.
A second bench has been donated to the local community and, with the support of Westmeath County Council, has been installed at the rear of Athlone Castle.
The Legend on the Bench initiative is a suicide prevention charity founded by former footballer Micky Hazard.
It places informative, handcrafted wooden benches in public spaces, offering a safe space for reflection and a QR code with 24/7 access to immediate mental health crisis support.
Des Travers, Chief Executive of DPD Ireland, said : “We recognise that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing, and creating an environment where people feel supported is something we take very seriously.
"We are delighted to become the first Irish corporate organisation to support the Legend on the Bench initiative. This partnership reflects our commitment not only to our own employees but also to the communities we serve every day.
"We hope these benches encourage people to pause, talk and remember that help is always available. If even one conversation starts because of these benches, they will have made a real difference.”
