Local woman's lip oil produced by major beauty brand after competition win

Ava Brady, a Cornafulla resident, has been chosen as one of two winners of an online competition to create a lip oil shade for cosmetics brand KASH Beauty.

Her 'Strawberry Matcha' shade has been voted alongside 'Raspberry Martini' as the winning shade of a 'Create your Lip Oil’ competition launched by KASH Beauty last year. The winners were chosen through an online voting process on the brand's social media page. The winning shade was turned into a lip oil guided by experts and launched recently at a retail price of €16. Ava’s final product is non-sticky lip oil with a sweet strawberry fragrance, lending a high-shine finish.

A third-year student of Business Studies with Event Management, at TUS, Ava is thrilled to partake in the entire process from being chosen as a winner to working with the brand's team in creating the packaging, marketing and shooting for a campaign to promote the lip oils.

"I participated in the contest along with a few of my friends. I pitched Strawberry Matcha colour as my entry, which is a nude-pink shade, very aligned with KASH's brand of beauty. This was last year, and I had totally forgot about it.

"Then in January they contacted me to inform I am one of the two winners. I am so happy that they involved me in every step of the way, from making my entry to actually designing the colour and its packaging. I, and the other winner, also got to meet Keilidh Cashell (Founder of KASH Beauty) in Mullingar," said Ava.

Ava is overjoyed with this experience and intends to take it in her stride to make a good start in a marketing career. "I got a great real-world exposure through this contest. My plan is to continue on in my course, and make a career in marketing. I absolutely enjoyed crafting, packaging and promoting a product. I feel I am really good at it," said Ava, who works at Penneys after her classes.

She has become a mini celebrity of sorts among her friends and family. "All my friends are so excited and supportive. It feels so special," said Ava.

Beauty influencer and founder of KASH Beauty, Keilidh Cashell said: "Our Lip Oils have become one of our most-loved products, so giving our community the opportunity to choose what came next felt like the perfect way to involve the people who support us every day."
