Roscommon LGFA player to participate in climate change initiative

Roscommon LGFA player Kate Nolan is one of 50 inter-county gaelic games players who will travel to Kenya in November for the 2026 Plant the Planet Games.

The St Brigid's club player, who will feature for Roscommon in the All-Ireland intermediate football final in Croke Park on Sunday, August 2, aims to raise €10,000 to help Self Help Africa plant one million trees in the fight against climate change and provide sustainable community livelihoods.

Supported by the GPA and Warriors for Humanity, the annual initiative brings together male and female inter-county players from all four gaelic codes to East Africa.

The 2026 trip will take place in Kenya from November 20-28 where players will physically take part in environmental projects and play exhibition matches, all in the effort to combat poverty and environmental degradation.
