Fur the win: Moate terrier's bid for Nose of Tralee title

Moate pup Senior Pepi is sniffing out the competition, as he makes his bid for the Nose of Tralee national title.

The terrier will represent Westmeath in the nationwide contest after earning a place in the final, where one pet from each county will compete for the coveted Nose of Tralee title.

Describing her beloved pet, Pepi's owner described him as a small dog with a huge personality, a charming scruffy smile, and ears that seem permanently tuned in to compliments.

Pepi is the best friend and emotional support dog of owner Erin Hickey, a Moate resident who lives with autism.

"Every single day, he's there through the overwhelming moments, the anxious moments, and the quiet moments, offering comfort in a way only he can," said Erin.

"Pepi doesn't judge, he doesn't need words, he simply knows when I need him most."
