Lynam adds another title to swimming honours

Mount Temple based swimmer Aindriú Lynam has become the Swim Ireland Open Water 10km champion.

Aindriú, who comes from a well-known local family with great swimming heritage, took the honours at senior level (over 20s) at Swim Ireland's recent national championships at Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon.

The former Moate Community School student, who is part of the University of Limerick swimming programme, finished ahead of Daniel Beggs (Belfast) and Conor McCarthy (Dublin).

Earlier this summer, Lynam clinched a third successive title at the renowned Gaelforce Great River Swim (5.8km) at Lanesborough. Before then, he also won first-place in the male skins at the 3.9km version of the Great Lake Swim at Lough Derg.

He finished third out of a vast field at the Galway Longest Day Swim, in the river Corrib (4km), and won third-place and a bronze medal at the previous Swim Ireland Open Water National Championships at Lough Lene (at the Olympic 10km distance) in Westmeath.
