Moate CS celebrates 'exceptional results'

Moate Community School principal Tom Lowry said Friday last was a "big day" for students receiving their Leaving Certificate results. As with previous years, results were well received with four students achieving 625 points, Fionn Campbell, Marco Camaro Lane, Cindy Zhang and Emma Keane.

The high achieving 'Class of 2026' recorded "exceptional results", with six percent of students achieving over 600 points. Students achieving over 500 points represented 20% of the year, while 50% of students accomplished over 400 points. Over 300 points was achieved by 78% of Leaving Cert students in the school. Welcoming the high standard of results achieved by the 127 students, the school principal said while there was a significant focus on Leaving Cert results, the real key date for students was the CAO first round offers (out on Wednesday).

“You might get the Leaving Certificate of your dreams, and not get the course of your dreams,” he pointed out, whilst, conversely, someone with a slight sense of disappointment may find that the cards fall in their favour in terms of their course options.

The school principal paid tribute to his "hard working" teaching staff who helped the students achieve such strong results.

"Our staff work tirelessly with the students so they can achieve their respective goals. Preparing students for the Leaving Certificate exams is no longer just about learning and study. It is all about supporting their wellbeing and welfare while they are students of the school.

"Thankfully, we use our teaching resources to the best possible manner allowing students be well prepared to sit their exams," Mr Lowry stated.
