Glasson Lakehouse reopens after closure of more than two weeks

One of Westmeath's best-known hotels is back open for business today (Thursday) after a closure which lasted for more than a fortnight.

It's understood that, in addition to being open to the general public for food and hospitality, the hotel was also again serving as a wedding venue, with a celebration currently taking place there today.

Overnight bookings have also reopened at the four-star hotel. At the time of writing, a flexible overnight stay in a double room with bed and breakfast tonight (Thursday) is currently available for €415, excluding taxes and fees, when booked on the hotel's website.

The hotel's closure on Wednesday, August 26, was caused by an illness outbreak affecting staff and guests.

"It is with regret that we have decided to temporarily close our premises as a precautionary measure following an outbreak of Norovirus," the hotel said when it announced the closure.
