Athlone Public Realm Enhancement highly commended at Civil Engineering Contractors Association Awards

Athlone Town Centre Public Realm Enhancement has been highly commended at Civil Engineering Contractors Association Awards.

The 18th Annual CECA Dinner & Awards took place on Friday, September 25, at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road in Dublin.

The Athlone Town Centre Public Realm Enhancement project delivered by John Cradock Ltd was recognised at the awards for its outstanding contribution to infrastructure.

The Athlone Town Centre Regeneration & Enhancement Project delivered alongside Westmeath County Council, introduced Natural Stone Surface Treatments, Street Furniture and Public Lighting improvements to Mardyke St and Pump Lane.

The project also included the pedestrianisation of Sean Costello St, creating an open and inviting link between the retail areas within the town centre of Athlone and a space that is accessible and appealing to all regardless of age, ability, or disability.

The €3.4m project was officially opened by Cathaoirleach Liam McDaniel in November 2024.
