Athlone group claim second place at Ballinasloe Fair's Battle of the Bands

Athlone band COPA have claimed second place at Ballinasloe Fair's Battle of the Bands.

The competition, which took place on Sunday, October 4, saw COPA take home a prize of €350.

The band is made up of Athlone teenagers Joey Dunne (guitar/vocals), Antonio Quinn Canton (drums), Nathan Quigley (bass), and recent addition Aoife Naughton (vocals).

Coming in first place and taking homea prize of €500 was Tarpin, while Preachán came third winning a prize of €150.

A major highlight in COPA’s young musical journey to date has been their performance on the Hazelwood Stage at Electric Picnic in 2025, one of Ireland’s most prestigious music festivals.

This opportunity came after many arduous rounds in a national Battle of the Bands competition, culminating in their victory in the Electric Youth Talent Competition.
