Council confirm Elliot Road closure to facilitate works

Westmeath County Council has confirmed that the Old Galway Road/Elliot Road (R446) will be closed to through traffic from 8pm to 6am on Thursday and Friday of this week.

The Council said the closure is necessary to facilitate road structural rehabilitation works.

A spokesperson for the Council said works will consist of the "removal and installation of road pavement" on the section of road.

The local authority said that the scheduled works, on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23, from 8pm to 6am, will progress, "depending on supply chain" and "weather conditions".

The Council added that alternative traffic management arrangements will be in place for road users durign the course of the works.

"Westmeath County Council regret any inconvenience caused to road users during this time," the spokesperson concluded.
