Aldi opens doors to new Moate store
Aldi Ireland today officially opened its newest store in Moate.
The new €8 million supermarket, which the retail chain said is creating 30 permanent jobs, is Aldi’s fifth store in Westmeath.
It began trading at 8am this morning (Thursday) after being officially opened by the local Aldi team, including Store Manager, Fiona Smith, alongside Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment, Peter Burke, Minister of State for the OPW, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, and Aldi mascot Kevin the Carrot.
Aldi first established a presence in the Irish market in 1999, with the first Westmeath store opening in Athlone in 2004. The Moate store is the retailer’s 168th in Ireland.
Speaking about the opening today, Minister Peter Burke said: "It's a pleasure to officially open the new Aldi store here in Moate. This store represents a significant investment in our community and will create valuable local employment.
"It is encouraging to see a leading retailer like Aldi continue to provide high-quality, affordable groceries while also supporting sustainability and local initiatives."
Fiona Smith, manager of the new store, said: "We’ve been proud to serve the people of Westmeath for more than two decades.
"Today, we are delighted to open our doors in Moate and bring Aldi’s excellent shopping experience to the community here."
