Burke to ring opening bell at New York Stock Exchange
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, TD, has been spreading Ireland’s message in New York over the last week as part of this year’s St Patrick’s Day delegation.
With more than 45 meetings and events planned between March 11 and March 18, he also managed to spend some time in historic New York communities with strong Irish connections, including Yonkers, Woodland and the Bronx, and paid a visit to the Aisling Irish Community Center.
The minister also joined Tourism Ireland to mark the greening of the Empire State Building on Friday, March 13, as New York began its St Patrick’s Day preparations.
He met New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and spoke at the Ireland Funds New York Gala on behalf of the government on Saturday, aiming to highlight the depth, value and future ambition of the Ireland, United States relationship.
Minister Burke will ring the bell to open the New York Stock Exchange on St Patrick’s Day, meet Mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani in the morning, and march in the parade, which around two million people are expected to attend.
