Garda water and air units to take part in South Roscommon training drill
An Garda Síochána has given notice of a training exercise which it will be carrying out in South Roscommon - involving several of its units including the Garda Water Unit and Garda Air Support Unit - this afternoon (Friday).
The training exercise, which is not open to the public, is due to be carried out between 12 noon and 2.30pm today "in the vicinity of Lough Ree and Carnagh East".
A Garda statement described it as "a routine exercise" designed to ensure readiness in the event of an emergency situation.
"An Garda Síochána regularly carries out training exercises and simulations in order to prepare and test the operational responses, communication and coordination of units, ensuring we are prepared to respond effectively and safely to emergency situations," the force said.
