Tech vs Toys in another delightful Toy Story chapter

James Cox

Toy Story has hit the mark again with its fifth edition, and it's a heartwarming and fun watch for adults and children alike.

In this chapter cowgirl Jessie (Joan Cusack) and her sidekick Bullseye (Alan Cumming) take centre stage.

When their owner Bonnie falls to the charms of technology, Jessie discovers and uncomfortable truth, devices and screentime have replaced toys and playtime.

When 'Lilypad', think iPad, is introduced to their home, the toys are forced to take drastic action, which leads us on an exciting adventure.

Jessie is determined to introduce Bonnie to Blaze, and inspire a friendship that will help them return to the freedom of childhood, but there are plenty of obstacles on the way.

Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) are of course there to help along the way. We're also introduced to an army of Buzz toys who prove crucial in the journey.

This is a spoiler free article, but here's one hint; there's a sneaky post-credits scene that is worth sticking around in the cinema for. That advice is only needed if you're not a Taylor Swift fan, as the credits include charming illustration along her new original song for the movie, I Knew It, I Knew You.

Five stars for Toy Story 5.
