LOI: Shamrock Rovers defeat Sligo Rovers with late goal

Shamrock Rovers maintained their seven point lead at the top of the League of Ireland after a 2-1 away to Sligo Rovers.at the Showgrounds.

Sligo Rovers took the lead with a goal from William Fitzgerald in the 13th minute, as they held the lead into the interval.

Stephen Bradley's side equalised in the 47th minute through Jack Byrne, with things going from bad to worse for Sligo Rovers as Daire Patton was sent off five minutes later.

Just as it looked to be heading for a draw, Graham Burke's goal in added time secured victory.

Bohemians are five points behind Shamrock Rovers in second after a 2-0 away to Drogheda United.

Mark Doyle's own goal in the 16th minute opened the scoring, with Douglas James-Taylor selaing the win in the 78th minute.

St Patrick's Athletic are in third after a comfortable 3-0 win over Galway United.
