'Day of action' promised by Westmeath gardaí over misuse of powered personal transport

Gardaí in Westmeath has today (August 12) warned of 'a day of action' against the misuse of powered personal transport.

A statement from the Westmeath Division said: 'We have today commenced a day of action involving motorcycles, quad bikes, mopeds, e-scooters and other powered personal transports. Our members, both nationally and in the Westmeath Division, will be carrying out enforcement in an effort to detect any illegal use of the above mentioned methods of transport'.

The statement added that any users found to be committing any road traffic offences 'risks their mechanically propelled vehicle being seized, and/or fixed charged notices being issued.
