Teenager in critical condition following e-scooter crash in Co Longford

An e-scooter driver, in his late teens, is in a critical condition and a female passenger, also in her teens, is in hospital following a crash in Co Longford.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on Battery Road on Friday night.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the crash, which occurred at approximately 10.40pm.
They are both receiving treatment in Regional Hospital Mullingar.
A Garda spokesperson said: "A male adult driver (aged in his late teens) was conveyed to Regional Hospital Mullingar and subsequently Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He remains in a critical condition.
"A female juvenile passenger (aged in her teens) was conveyed to Regional Hospital Mullingar for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time."
The road is currently closed pending technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
Local diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the vicinity of Battery Road, Longford, between 10.15pm and 10.45pm on Friday are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
