Applications open for 30 cost rental units at Cornamaddy Court in Athlone

Applications have opened for 30 cost rental units as part of Phase 2 of the Cornamaddy Court housing development.

The homes now available for application include eight 1-bed maisonettes with a monthly rent of €1,010 as well as 22 two-bed mid-terrace houses with a monthly rent of €1,200.

The homes are being provided by Tuath Housing Association. Cost Rental is a not-for-profit rental model, with rents set at least 25% below local market rates.

Phase 1 of the Cornamaddy Court scheme attracted more than 900 applications for 14 new two-bedroom 'cost rental' apartments. This represented at least 65 applications for every one of the cost rental apartments made available by Tuath Housing in this scheme.

Eligibility criteria apply, including a household income below €59,000, you must not own a property in Ireland or elsewhere, and you must be able to afford to pay the cost rent for the home, meaning that your rent charge does not come to more than 35% of your net household income.

Applications can be made until Wednesday, September 30, at 2pm at https://tuathhousing.ie/properties/cornamaddy-court-phase-2
