Athlone motorist put to the test in this week's finale of RTÉ series
Television viewers will see a local motorist being put through her paces in Athlone in The Random Driving Test on RTÉ One this Thursday.
The last episode of the series, hosted by comedian PJ Gallagher, sees Inga Peterson, originally from Latvia, take her driving test in Athlone.
The series sets out to examine whether drivers across the country would pass if they redid their driving test today.
"In the final episode of the series, Inga in Athlone and travel agent Trish in Navan face real routes, surprise hazards and the chance to win up to €1,000 cash," a synopsis of Thursday's episode states.
In total, the series is visiting 12 different driving test routes around Ireland in order to "challenge experienced licensed drivers from all walks of life to get back in the test seat and prove they still have what it takes".
Each driver starts their televised test with €1,000. For every fault, they lose €100, but if they can keep their faults below nine, they get to keep the cash.
Keeping a close eye on it all is the series' resident 'super tester' Brian Harnett, a former senior RSA tester who has conducted over 25,000 driving tests.
* The final episode of The Random Driving Test airs this Thursday, October 22, at 7pm on RTÉ One.
