Family of Glen Hansard to light An Tairseach Samhain fire at Hill of Uisneach

The family of late musician Glen Hansard are set to light the An Tairseach Samhain fire at the Hill of Uisneach this November.

Maire and Christy Hansard, wife and son of the late Glen Hansard have accepted an invitation for them to light the An Tairseach Samhain fire at the Hill of Uisneach on Saturday, November 7.

They will be accompanied by Colm Mac Con Iomaire and others from Glen's family and friends to light the entrances to the great fire.

"Glen had agreed to light the fire before his tragic passing, and wanted to perform on the hill in memory of his friend, and ours, Manchán Magan," the Hill of Uisneach team wrote.

"At Samhain, a time when we honour our ancestors, remember those we have lost, and celebrate the enduring connection between the living and the departed, the lighting of the sacred fire at Uisneach takes on an especially poignant meaning, as it did last year with Aisling lighting it in memory of Manchán.

"We are sure with the support of everyone in attendance they will get great comfort from this special moment."
