Midlands' Green Party members can quiz leadership candidates at event tonight

The two candidates contesting the leadership of the Green Party, Catherine Martin and Eamon Ryan, will this evening (Tuesday) take part in the final online hustings ahead of the party's vote.

The event this evening will give party members in the Midlands, North, West, and Northern Ireland an opportunity to question the two candidates (pictured above) via the online conferencing platform, Zoom.

The first hustings took place on July 7, and this evening's event will be a last opportunity for members to formally engage with the two candidates before the ballot papers are sent out in the coming days.

Ballots must be returned by party members by July 22, and the result of the contest will be announced on the evening of Thursday, July 23.

Tonight's hustings will take place from 7pm to 9pm and will be chaired by the National Coordinator of the Green Party, Bláithín Gallagher.

Each of the candidates will have ten minutes for their opening speech, and then they are due to answer questions from members for more than an hour, before making their closing speeches.

The event is open to Green Party members and media representatives only.
