Great response to Anthony Keenan Trust Fund quiz

Over 260 people participated in what must have been the biggest ever table quiz in this region in support of the Anthony Keenan Trust Fund last week. The event in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel was a massive success, with 65 tables competing in the sports quiz. The winners were: 1st: Paddy Conlon, James Reilly, Ollie Connaughton and Padraig Gallagher; 2nd: Kieran Harten, Jimmy Redmond, Niall Connaughton and Donal Bracken; 3rd: Kieran Burke, Cian Higgins, John Galvin and Colm McNamara. Peter Keenan, brother of Anthony, said there had been a fantastic response to the event. He thanked all who competed, the quizmaster Brian Melinn, Paddy McCaul of the venue the Shamrock Lodge and all those who provided raffle and quiz prizes, including Damien Kilmartin, Athlone Crystal, Mitre, Canterbury and the Yew Tree Restaurant in Lecarrow. Anthony Keenan (48), known to many as Jelly, was last year diagnosed with a brain tumour and recently underwent surgery in America to remove the tumour. The Trust Fund was set up to help meet the costs of the surgery. The table quiz was the latest fundraising event.
