Big period for Ballinasloe sport begins on Sunday

BALLINASLOE Town are bidding to reach the quarter-finals of the pretigious Umbro FAI Junior Cup this weekend, when they take-on Clonmel Town in the last 16 at the Curragh Grounds on Sunday (2pm). Previously, Enda Concannon's Ballinasloe have twice reached the last 16 only to be beaten by the Limerick side Carew Park and then St Peter's from Athlone. In round six, Ballinasloe beat Castlebar Celtic side 2-0 at the Curragh and were full value for the win. The game signals the start of an interesting couple of weeks in sport for Ballinasloe, with the town's Gaelic footballers due to contest the All-Ireland Club JFC final against Kenmare Shamrocks at Croke Park on February 24.
