Local GAA club issues appeal following “devastating” house fire

Shannonbridge GAA Club has issued an appeal to the public to support a fundraiser to help a local family to rebuild their home following a devastating house fire last weekend.

A GoFundMe appeal was set up to help support the family who luckily escaped from the fire unharmed but are now left with the task of rebuilding their family home and their lives.

Taking to Facebook, the GAA club said it was “deeply saddened to hear of the devastating house fire that David and Caroline Sheffield, along with their two boys George and Charlie experienced on Saturday, 17th June last.”

“David is one of our underage coaches, helping to nurture the budding football skills of our next generation of players.”

The local GAA Club is urging the community to share the fundraiser with others and to donate anything to the GoFundMe which it says “can make a world of difference to a family rebuilding their lives. Your generosity and kindness will help alleviate some of the financial burdens they face in the coming months.

"Let’s stand together with the Sheffields during this challenging time, proving once again the strength of the Shannonbridge spirit," it said.

The GoFundMe has a target of €20,000 and it has raised €10,095 to date. To donate to the fundraiser visit gofund.me/559d1d1a
