Speed reduction measures to be installed at eight local schools over summer months
Speed reduction measures are set to be installed at eight local schools over the summer months.
Athlone Moate Municipal District confirmed it is progressing the Speed Reduction at Schools Programme in response to a question posted by Cllr Vinny McCormack
"Ramp designs are currently being prepared, and engagement is ongoing with a specialist contractor to provide solar-powered, LED vehicle-activated lighting at each rural ramp location," the executive said in a written response.
It is anticipated that the installation of speed reduction measures, including ramps and associated signage, will be carried out during the summer months of 2026.
"The District is committed to a further roll out safety measures on a phased basis to enhance safety at schools as appropriate funding streams are identified," the executive added.
