Irish folk legend Andy Irvine to perform in Moate

Andy Irvine, the Irish folk music legend and former member of Planxty, will be performing in Moate later this year.

The 84-year-old troubadour is taking to the stage for a solo show in the Tuar Ard Theatre on Saturday, October 10, at 8pm.

An influential figure on the folk and trad scene for many decades, Irvine has performed with Sweeney's Men, Patrick Street and Mozaik, in addition to being a central figure in Planxty.

He also teamed up with Paul Brady to record the classic 1976 album 'Andy Irvine/Paul Brady'.

"Whether performing solo or as part of iconic ensembles, Irvine brings a rare authenticity to the stage," stated a promotional listing for the Tuar Ard concert.

"His music is rooted in storytelling – rich with history, humanity and a deep emotional connection that resonates with audiences across generations.

"This performance at Tuar Ard offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Ireland’s true musical pioneers in an intimate setting. Honest, powerful and deeply moving, an evening with Andy Irvine is not to be missed."

Tickets for the show on October 10 are on stage now from the Tuar Ard website and box office, priced €30.
