Second Athlone Boots store opens with creation of 11 new jobs

Athlone's second Boots store officially opened today (Wednesday).

The store is located at Athlone Towncentre, with the health and beauty chain taking out a 10-year lease on a 3,500 square foot ground floor unit previously occupied by McGorisk's Pharmacy.

The new store, which is in addition to the existing Athlone Boots branch in the Golden Island Shopping Centre, creates 11 new jobs and features a pharmacy, where, seven days a week, patients can access prescriptions, health advice and a range of vaccination and healthcare services.

In addition to pharmacy and healthcare, the store offers a range of beauty, skincare, wellness and everyday essentials.

Commenting on the new opening, Pat Laffey, director of stores for Boots, said: "I'm delighted to announce the opening of our new Boots store at Athlone Towncentre.

"Athlone is a town where customers and patients already know Boots well and a second location allows us to serve even more people with the pharmacy, healthcare, beauty and wellness products and services they rely on.

“This opening reflects our continued commitment to investing in town centres, creating local jobs and making trusted healthcare and beauty more accessible to communities across Ireland.

The new Boots Athlone Towncentre store will operate with opening hours from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Wednesday, and Saturday, 9am to 8pm Thursday and Friday, and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.
