The O'Byrne Cup senior football clash between Westmeath and Athlone IT has been moved to Hogan Park, Moate. The game had been scheduled to take place in Pairc Chiarain, Athlone, but the pitch there has been deemed unplayable. Therefore, the 2013 season opener has been moved to Moate. It will be the first time in several years for the Westmeath senior team to play a competitive match in Moate. With a number of Westmeath players in the AIT squad, the match is expected to draw a decent crowd to Hogan Park.
