Man appears over €2,000 damage to bus

A man in his 30s has appeared in court accused of causing €2,000 worth of damage to a bus during an incident in Mullingar earlier this year.

Sean Cox (32) of 36 Grange Crescent, Mullingar, Westmeath appeared at last Thursday’s sitting of Mullingar District Court charged with criminal damage.

The charges state that on February 23, 2025 at Oliver Plunkett Street, Mullingar, Mr Cox allegedly damaged the door of a bus and caused damage to the value of €2,000.

Sgt Sheila Kenny said despite the nine months that had passed since the date of the alleged offence, directions were still pending from the DPP office in Dublin.

Judge Owens made a disclosure order to Mr Cox’s defence solicitor Louis Kiernan and remanded Mr Cox on bail to Mullingar District Court on February 5, 2026.
